Thumbs up I used Motul Engine cleaner today!

Well i serviced my car today, new oil Nulon 10w40, filter. I also tried out this stuff made by Motul called engine cleaner, it cleans sludge out, deposits, and varnishes in the motor. U put it in the motor before u dump the old oil let the motor Idle for 15minutes then dump the whole lot out the bottom. Alot of black crap came out so it worked. The car is alot smoother to drive, revs smooth. the motor sounds less noisey very surprised i'll use it all the time now, i was sceptical at the start but the guy at autobarn said my car would run smoother and it wouldnt damage my motor. Pretty happy. It was 30 buks for a little bottle 300ml's. Just posting it up cos ive never heard of anyone doing it new to me.

I would be worried that the stuff being cleaned out could block up oil galleries etc.
Sounds as if you didn't have any problems though.

Sounds like a good result. If you want to get your car running smoother still, here's a couple of tips I got from my new mechanic, who is EXCELLENT. Get a can of AC Delco Combustion Chamber Cleaner and whilst your car is running at idle spray the entire can into your throttle body (don't get it on you if you can help it, or breathe it in, it's carcinogenic), then once you've sprayed the entire can in turn the car off and let it sit for half an hour. Then turn it back on and it will belch black smoke everywhere for 10 minutes. Voila, all the crap that was in your combustion chambers is now polluting the atmosphere instead of your engine! ;)
Also, get a 10mm spanner and check all the bolts holding your inlet manifold on, apparently it's a thick gasket and the AU's all tend to get loose bolts after a while. Mine all had at least half a turn or more to be tightened. You can't really get to one of the back ones, but tighten up all that you can. I thought I needed a new gasket a while back, but this seems to be all it was, and no other so-called mechanics thought to check. My car runs smooth as now.
Tragically, the only place you can get the AC Delco stuff is from Holden spare parts. It's about $7 a can from memory.

Good going Joe..just keep an eye out for rear main seal leaks as some of these eat the rubber.

Yeah I have been told that the engine flush can be as good as it is bad, bad In the way of new oil leaks just appearing out of the blue.....

It is great stuff my mechanic put me onto it as well! The warnings on the outside about being carcinogenic are pretty severe though I suppose that is why it works so well. Give "Top end clean" a go another great product made by GMC unfortunately only avaliable at holden dealers

Hey sleeperau I suspect the reason our mechanic's both put us onto it is that we have the same mechanic, if it's Redland Bay Garage you go to. You recommended him to me ages ago, I just never got around to seeing him until recently. He's great, I have to drive over an hour to get to him but it's worth it since he knows his stuff and doesn't rip me off. So thanks!

My mechanic has been put the oil cleaner treatment in the XR8 since it was new. I've never had a problem with it in the XR8. But when i brough my old Lazer he started put in the the Lazer motor it clean out alot of junk but now uses bit of oil. I guess it good to use if the motor is fairly new.

Yeah that is the one. No probs mattp good honest mechanics are hard to come by. He also uses a commercial grade engine flush as well which works well. I believe it is only supplied to retailers & not the public. I will find out what it is called but the garage is closed until the 15th.

I have used the Motul Engine Cleaner and haven't had any problems with my 260,000klm EF NA 6 Cyl.

In respect of oil leaks after you use it I always think that this happens as it cleans the built up sludge which is actually stopping the oil leak in the first place.

Apparenly the Motul Oil is very good stuff as well and awesome for Turbo Cars.

$30 for a bottle, oh my god, lol, I got it free as I know the importer of the Motul Products.
