In the last couple of weeks I've been noticing my car gradually getting harder to start, as having to hold the key for a fair bit longer,
Not only just that but now I am also noticing when I'm driving under loads I can feel the car slightly pulsing, dose anyone have this problem or has had this before, Some info would be great

I'd start with replacing plugs and leads

I'd do things in this order, allowing a short test time like a day (to see if the work's had any effect) in between.
I'd change the plugs and whack a bottle of injector cleaner into the petrol tank, clean the ISC valve and change the air cleaner element and see what difference that lot makes. Here is a "how to" on cleaning the ISC valve. http://www.fordforums.com.au/showpos...9&postcount=43 From there I would go fuel filter and leads. If no joy after this, then perhaps coil pack. My rationale is to start with the more simple and cheaper things first, working up to the more difficult and fiddly. All the best with it. GK

Does it seem to be cranking strongly when you turn the key, or is it quite slow? It could just be a dead battery.

How many kms, IIRC you have an XR8? The coil packs in them only last about 100,000kms (sometimes less) before they start having problems.

I have found if you are having starting issues .... and it is taking longer to crank ... and with load pulsing/surging issues ... it sounds more like the coil is on it's way out.
Might have arcing issues (hence the surging under load). Last 3 vehicles have had similar symptoms ... and was coil each time (On a Proton Satria ... XG ute ... and an XF sedan I was borrowing as well ... all coil related issues).

Sounds like a fuel problem.Try injector cleaner or get the pump checked.
