Default Gear box & Tailshaft Q's

Hey everyone.

I am after a V8 auto gear box or can someone recommend me to a place where I can get one. Preferably rebuilt witha bit of strength. Also was there any difference in an Auto box from a forte compared to an XR compared to a T3 except the shift points. Price on one of these?

Also trying to track down a 2 piece tail shaft to suit a V8 box. If anyone knows a shop that can supply one it would be greatly appreciated. Also how much for one to fit a wagon.

I am in Sydney.

Cheers
Chief

Wagon first than coupe. I am not going to say what engine or specs or when. It will be before Christmas though.

I am writing up a build in the AU section. Will be up all night on painkillers from the hospital for a pinched nerve in my neck.

You buy a XR6T snorkal and I will swap you now. You can have the wings. I will probably end up changeing the air intakel. If you can wait I will just give it to you.

So can anyone tell me where I can get a V8 'box built please in Sydney. Had quotes around the $1000 for just the box.

Any idea on the tailshaft?

would a ute tailshaft fit? I think Pursuit 250's had a 2 piece tailshaft, and FTG had one not long ago.

Pursuit 250's utilised a 2 piece tailshaft to overcome issues - because the tailshaft of a ute or wagon is longer than a normal sedan, they can get unsettled easier when theyre handling higher power i.e. a worked v8.

Not much idea, but I know you can get custom made lightened tailshafts, made up for around $700ish.

The 2 piece tailshaft is for the extra power going through a longer tail shaft and because of the suspension set up on wagons the diff pinion angle needs to be changed in order to lower the wagon. It can be lowered with out playing with the diff pinion angle but can led into more troubles later on.

LG. Got a link or phone number. Cheers.

Sorry only Melbourne Numbers... Just giving you an indication of price. I was quoted for a brand new one piece lightened tailshaft (to suit Manual) ~$750ish.
