Hi Guys
I think my fuel pump may be packing it in, When the car is running i hear a hum comming from the rear left hand side of the car. Sounds similar to when you turn the ignition on and you hear the pump start except the hum stays there Any ideas, the car seems to be running fine no loss of power or stalling. If it is the fuel pump is it hard to replace it. Cheers Alpine

Hmmm....mine hums when it's running also, however I only hear it whilst the car is cold, once it's warmed up you can bearly hear it.

The Car is still under warranty so i might just take it to them ans let them see what they can find, If is it is the pump then it should be under warranty.

I got a series II about 9months ago, and that was my first question as well. It seemed noisy but mechanic said it should be fine. Excess noise caused by vibration the fuel pump is making when running. Keep us posted anyway, wouldnt mind a second opinion on that. :-)

The lines have a connector that really should be removed with a special tool and the large plastic lock ring holdig the whole assembly in, also needs a special tool to undo. You can do it with a hammer and screwdriver or similar, but the chances of damaging it (being plastic) are high and it's damn hard work. Also, buy the pump from Bursons or somewhere similar as the genuine pumps are made in the same factory but are more than twice the price. Hope that helps.
