Default Econectic price rise??

Hi guys I am new to this forum and I am looking at buying an econectic at some stage this year. I went to a dealership the other day and the salesman told me that after the end of the finnacial year the current deal on the econectic will disappear. The RRP will stay at 24,990 but they will no longer be doing it for that price as driveaway no more to pay.

Now I am sure he is just trying to get me to buy now rather than later in the year but will I really be looking at paying $28 000 for an econectic at the end of the year. Surely they won't be asking that much on top of what the petrol Fiesta are selling for?? Shoul I wait or jump in now before the end of the month?

Dont be pressured into buying a car at anytime....

Looking at car sales just now :

There was nearly 100 econetic's listed... With plenty of demo's at $22k driveaway... and 2010 brand newies from $25k driveaway.... some cheaper.

If your not buying now though, dont worry about the sales man... They'll try anything to get you to sign up there and then...

If you are ready to buy before the end of financial year though, its a great time to buy a car, get them to chuck in extras for free, mats, tint, fuel, warranty etc etc..

DJ1979 our only econetic fez owner got heaps of stuff chucked in for his Econetic for around $25k I think he said.. (including a set of zetec alloys)

Yup, Troy hit the nail on the head here buddy. Just ignore the dealer, and don't go back. Take your device to a dealer that doesn't tell you blatant lies, as more than likely, that's what it is. There is nothing on the Ford Australia website saying about a price rise. There are plenty of cheap ECOnetics about too, as Troy pointed out. Good luck and I hope you get a good bargain!

From what I understand, the Econetic has always been $24 990 drive away - I was told that it should retail for around 28k but the price was left at 24 990 for introductory price, and then left at that price for EOFY.

I honestly don't see Ford raising the price, as half their advertising quotes it being 11k under prius, etc etc.

Anything more than the current 24 990 would severely affect its attraction to many people.

Given the omission of things like rear power windows and fog lights, $25k is a lot for a little car, let alone 28.

And yes, I do still love mine - but, I got mine for 25 with tint mats and Zetec alloys plus some other bits- and I certainly wouldnt have paid $1 more for it than that, otherwise it is in Diesel Golf & Mini territory.

Thanks guys you have confirmed my initial concerns.

I am quite keen to get one now but the boss (wife) wants to wait until the end of the year. I have found one for 22k in squezze with 3k on the clock. It is a 2009 plated car but they are also offering a 5 year warranty.

If you want a new car by the end of the year, that's the other great time to buy as they will want to clear all their stock. Keep in mind however that the Fiesta will be coming from Thailand before the end of the year which should either increase equipment levels or drop the price, not sure if this includes the ECOnetic as as far as I have been made aware of, Thailand will not be producing any diesel Fiestas, well not that they have advertised.

Well I finally convinced the boss that now was the right time to buy the car. I bought an econectic in squezze with premium mats, ipod cable, alloy pedals and illuminated gear knob. Quite happy with the deal and the dealership and will find out Monday when I get the car.

Congrats fella. What price did they give you if you don't mind me asking? It's always interesting to see how Ford are pricing their vehicles. You'll be very happy with the illuminated gear lever too, it feels much better and looks the tits.

They wouldn't budge on the 24,990 drive away price. I live in newcastle so there were 4 dealers I went to see and all wouldn't budge on the 24, 990 deal. I was happy enough to pay that and got all my extras and a black and white plate for the $24, 990 drive away price.

Should be easy to beat me on economy - I am not getting any better than 4.2 litres/100km - I am blaming this on:
Tyes/Alloys
My right foot

Finally picked up my econetic this afternoon. Seemed like I had to wait an age to get it after buying it. But it was well worth the wait and I am really happy with the service at the dealership. I know that this may change but I was more than happy with their efforts.

Only really drove the car to my parents house and then home but I absoloutly love the car. The little green arrow that tells you to change gears comes on pretty quick but I found myself complying everytime it come on! Looking foward to going out tomorrow and going for a decent drive!

4450kms under my belt now - fuel economy has come down a bit to 4.0 l/100, Ford reckon 5000km is when these are run in enough, meaning whatever I am getting then is probably as good as I will get.

Given my driving (110kh up hill) I am very happy with 4

That's incredible, not to mention you have non standard wheels. The hub caps are supposed to be wind friendly, so to be able to get 4.0L/100km is great and proves the claim of 3.7L/100km is not outlandish.

Feel like I have possibly thread jacked...!

however, these are supposed to get 3.2 on the open road - and I was told to add 20% as I have alloys and non energy tyres - so yeah, 4 is good.

Just went for my first real drive to show the car off did about 80kms and the trip computer said I did 4.1. Considering the car only has 100kms on the clock not a bad first up effort.

What a great car to drive.
