Default heat proof liner (hood liner)

My question is, are the heat proof liners necessary.
Cause on my car i've got one along the firewall, that's torn and generally worn. What are the effects if i remove this?? Will i notice more heat in the cabin? or will it discolour the paint? Advisable or not

Also what about the hood liner? necessary or not??

Cheers

the firewall lining, you will notice heat and more noise fromthe engine bay

Bonnet lining, you will notice more engine noise, and most people say the extra heat it stops will fade the bonnet paint.

Definitely will fade the bonnet if you remove the bonnet liner. It will take some time to do ... but much quicker without the lining in place.

I've wondered about one from time to time on the S1. I wonder how much they are worth from FTG, they're bound to have oooodles of them!

when the lining is all torn and worn and the firewall and you are working near it and you rub against it with your arm you get a real itchy arm and u will spend all night picking fiberglass like splinters from your arm..this happened to me when i was shimming my wishbones

Does nothing.... Ford spend millions of dollars employing 200k a year engineers to find noise and heat reduction and from what I here thay make up all this S@@@T to keep themselves in a job. I'd have no hesitation in removing it.

U'll find most people who have a shaker on their car ( i did on my old XE ) have had no problems at all without the bonnet/hood lining, it made ziltch difference.

As far as the firewall lining goes , i personally wouldn't remove it just for safety sake of keeping the electrics behind the dash cooler. Also if you had an engine bay fire , that fibreglass lining would also probably help the firewall stay a little cooler , also saving the risk of fryed/burned stuff behind the firewall in the cabin behind the dash.

cheers.

I have a S1 AU falcon that doesn't have the hood lining and the firewall lining. There is no extra heat that I can feel in the cabin but there is extra nosie which I quite like as you can actually hear the extractors and engine work.
As for the paint fade, this is bull as the car is almost 8 years old and there is no paint fade.
