OK I have a 'file' I want to backup onto a DVD to be able to use 'later'.... hehehe
I have tried to use both Nero & the PowerDVD program that came with my burner ......... Yes it is a DVD burner ........ It seems to be taking forever to either encode the file (Nero) or in the other program its doing something similar but in a different name ......... Is this process meant to take forever or am I doing something wrong ??????? |

Hey Lisa. This may be a stupid question, but you are backing up your FILE onto a DVD and not a CD, arent you?
It does take quite a while though.

If by backing up a file to DVD to actually mean convert an AVI or MPEG video to DVD format then, yes, it will take ages unless you have a super fast computer. The computer needs to decode the AVI/MPEG file into uncompressed video and then encode it into the DVD format and then finally burn it. Kick it off before going to bed and you should have it in the morning.
![]() If you're just burning a regular file to DVD then the process is the same as if burning to CD. It'll just take a little longer if you're filling up the DVD.
