Default Tacho Not Working Properly - Reading High

Hi Everyone

I pulled the cluster out of my AUII XR6 the other day and fixed the cluster lights. Put it back in and all good.

Since then, the tacho has started playing up. It reads high when the car is turned on. When I turn the car off the needle returns to zero and shakes. After about 5-10 seconds the needle stops shaking and sits at 250 RPM.

All of the other gauges 'appear' to be working fine including the speedo.

I've checked the pins and they all seem to be straight and making contact with the plug.

I haven't swapped with another cluster as my spare ones are down at my Mother's at the moment (long story). I don't want to swap it with my XR8 one just in case it starts to play up as well.

Has anyone else experienced this? What did they do to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Well... this could be shortest thread of all time.

After two solid days of trying to fix it, I just took it for a drive and it is behaving like nothing was ever wrong.

I hate it when things fix themselves - it will come back to bite you when you least want it to.

Did you evaluate the outcome of percussion testing?
