Helllo all,
: i am trying to find a capri v6 engine(complete) for my mk1 escort. Does anyone have any info as to where i can purchase an engine from. I live in Rockhampton QLD,as close as possiblle would be great. P.s. also looking for an auto to suit aswell Thanks. REport |

Contact your local Capri or Zephyr/Zodiac club. They should be able to point you in the right direction as club members usually have a few parts to trade. The 3.0lt Essex V6 had a Borg Warner 35 auto box as found in just about any ford from that era. The bell-housing/torque converters may be a little harder to come by. You might be able to make do with a Falcon unit and an adapter plate.

i have one but not complete so it dosnt really help u watch out as for someone to build one its not that cheap i had my heads rebuilt 13 years ago now and they cost me $1100 back then and a motor to be rebuilt was around $4500 thats y i decide to put a v8 in mine.

The V6 is not a performance motor, it just happened to end up in a relatively small car giving it great performance. When you mention $4000+ rebuilts, its like squeezing blood out of a stone. I've had friends who had got reasonable figures out of a V6 for less than $1500. If you want bang for your buck, go for a V8, but in an Escort....a stock V6 would be plenty.
