anyone out there doing an XR conversion and needs a AU series 1 bonnet?
I am looking to swap mine for a series 2 bonnet or looking for a cheap series 2 bonnet (small dings ok) prefer to be in SA due to cost factor

1 the bonnet dips down lower than the lights and the ford oval comes out a little past the end of the bonnet. 2 its slightly higher than the lights and the end is flush with the grille

I scored a c2r grille at the right price but its a series 2 so I thought what the hell why not change it over to series 2 bonnet
series 1 bonnets are nicer if you have an XR like yours SVR73, been on a few cruises with you, just love your car. Funny how you are always in front of me hehehehe only a few more days til the next cruise woohoo!

Series one has a spine down the middle, series two ( and high end series one models above Fairmont) had a more bulgey bonnet. Looks much nicer.

Auto distmanlers astound me when it comes to prices tho, I can buy a NEW bonnet for $275 but a second hand one in the wrong colour in $325 I just dont get that....

Ive never seen a new bonnet from ford that cheap my bet is that its aftermarket one. |

~Nudge~ has a series 1 Fairmont bonnet (same as series 2/3 bonnet) for sale in the For Sale section. And it's white. But it's in Canberra. But transport to SA can be arranged, I'm sure.

No I'm just leaving the car in the garage until I have the funds to lower it, do the three grand 4 piston brake upgrade, power/torque mods and bumper to bumper service
Which means I may not be seen for 07 (except on MFC events in someone elses car)

I am painting the bonnet myself so no real drama's just got to pinch my mates compressor to do it, think I have the paint in the shed (have to look). I am just busy at the moment working on a EL I picked up at the right price and cleaning it up to sell it.
