Ok guys, I know this has been covered, but I searched and came up with nothing. What legalities are involved with dumping the exhaust around the diff area? Im pretty sure it has to be past the last welded seam in the floor pan, but where is it? Also, would I need to have a muffler before the dumping section, or can I get away with not having one?
Any help would be good guys, as my exhaust keeps sh1tting itself ath front of the rear muffler, so Id just like to do away with it. Josh

If the rusting of the rear muffler is the problem, why dont you get rid of that muffler and just get a pipe from the front muffler right out to the tip? I personally think that the car would look bare without a exhaust tip.

i think he means from where you want to dump it from, if you get a straight pipe from there it will be a tad quieter, at least inside the car, than what it would be dumping it at the diff

Exactly what i mean is have the cat, resonator, main muffler and from there instead of just dumping it i would run a tail pipe from there and still have a nice tip on it so it finishes off the rear bar. This is for a stock exhaust tho with a redback sys they would have the cat, main muffler and an optional rear resonater.
Im pretty sure you can buy that tailpipe with no muffler as an off the shelf item. so its just a simple bolt off, bolt on thing. But its up to you. Shaun.

At the monent, Ive just got my cat, the rear muffler and thats it. Its a 2.5 inch cat back, so Im guessing it would be a little noisy with no mufflers at all. Im going to be going full stainless in the future, I just dont want to have to keep stuffing around with this one.

I ditched the muffler at the rear on my old car for the same reasons and moved it to about 1' behind the cat, it's the water spray off the rear wheels that kills them (constant heating/cooling) I then ran a straight pipe to the rear from there, still legal noise levels and no more dead mufflers
