Default Momo s/wheel with tiptronic

Can somebody tell me how these tiptronic switches on the steering wheels on the T series work. Were these in place of the cruise and audio controls or were they for something different.

The thumb points on the momo wheels had a bump in the fabric - all momos but the T series ones had buttons under them that changed up or down depending on whether left or right was pushed. No visual difference, it was all under the skin so to speak.

They are on the the rim of the steering wheels at at 10 and 2. There is a big button and a smaller button on the wheel and they select gears when the tranmission is in ESS mode. Hope that answers your question

I wish! I'm not clever enough to do that, but another forum member is - I kind of put him onto it after the install of the BA shifter in the wagon. He has developed the interface for the steering wheel buttons (the ESS ones), as well as the module that hooks into the ECU et*** I'm the guinea pig for non-XR models - he's developing the XR version using his own auto XR8.

As soon as they are ready to go, I'll make sure everyone knows about it.

That sounds really exciting, JC. Do you still have to sacrifice your stereo buttons to use this new ESS kit?

Not that I'm aware of - the controller for the buttons sits behind the airbag somwhere, and uses RF signals (don't quote me though), to send the signal via the stereo buttons to the ECU. The plan is to keep all buttons fully functional - or at least that was the plan. Until I get an update from the designer/builder, I won't know for sure.

JC, do you know how much without the steering wheel?

I've already got a Momo with the ESS buttons...

I am keen as for this

Pricing is yet to be finalised, and is not up to me. But it will be somewhere around the $600 mark, including a brand new Momo ESS wheel.

So I guess without the wheel (so just the controller and sender unit), somewhere between $300 and $400.

Just to clear this misinfo, there are two buttons each on both sides of the wheel. A smaller one below a bigger one. The bigger button shifts up and the smaller button shifts down. You can shift up and/or down from both left AND right controls.

yes they're the same shape/look. The ESS wheel has buttons and wires running through it, the other type doesn't.

Had an update today from "the builder", and this timing is about right. Should definitely be a goer before Christmas. He has everything installed in his test mule apart from the actual ECU connections, which should happen tomorrow. If that all goes well, and it works, I will be testing the second "proto"type next week, and we'll give it about 4 weeks worth of testing before releasing to the "general population". His sources also inform him that the 10 or so wheels he has are the last new ones with buttons in the country.

Not taking orders at the moment, (apart from 2 that I already have), but I will forward any expressions of interest on to him, and then when the kit's ready to go, it's a matter of turning the EOI into a sale/purchase.
