Hello All,

How did you do it? did you paint them? or can you buy them from Ford?

You paint them, all mirrors from Ford come in any colour you like as long as it's black.

i beg to differ, as my mirrors are actually Sparkling Burgandy and came that way from the factory. I'm sure you could possible buy some colour coded caps from spare parts?

And if you buy an eBay alternative, make sure the clips on the backs are the same as OEM. I busted the glass in a mirror, bought an eBay one, but could not put the undamaged back from the original on the eBay replacment because the clip locations were different.

If you find out how to please let me know how, cause i got quoted about $200 from a smash repairer.

If you end up painting them yourself, maybe you could paint mine (i will pay of course) and that way i would contribute towards the cost of the paint.

Just a thought.

They would get painted, when the car get's sprayed. You can't buy them pre-painted.

A smash repairer, should be able to spray both for $50 - 100.

From the factory mirrors get colour coded, so technically yes they are coloured from factory, BUT on the shelf at Ford will be sitting a batch of black ones waiting to get a colour or go on a base model and stay black.

clear now

You could also check these out. The Mk2 Fairlane/LTD mirrors can look pretty good on the right car.

Actually Ford sell two types - Black base model ones, and black ready to be painted ones.

Or just pop your current ones out and send them off to the painters.
I had Adam from AWC pop my ones out and get them painted at the same time as my kit.

Thank goodness I did it at the time ... looked so much better when i picked the car up with the new kit on and mirrors painted.

i recently painted my mirror covers..it's a very simple task! just unclip the covers (turn the mirror glass one way, pop off the clips with a screwdriver, then rotate glass other way and pop off other clips) wipe over the mirror back with prep-sol and place them on some news paper.with your trusty can of spray paint lay on a couple of thin even coats of paint(use thinner coats and biuld the colour up gradually) allowing drying time in-between coats. if you want you can put on a couple of coats of clear to protect from stone chips and bug guts. once all coats are properly dry just pop the covers back onto the mirrors. simple and it looks great

if you need more help pm me and i may be able to get some piccies happening to help.

I'd suggest getting a spare pair and getting them painted up, then straight swap over. Handy to have a spare in case you clip the scalp on something.

Mine were colour coded from factory. Any of the late edition AUII's and onwards had them colour coded from factory. Fairmonts/Fairlanes always had colour coded mirror scalps from factory.

hey guys.. you can buy black ones from ford, or you can buy the primered ones.
i painted mine myself from a spray can and they are exactly the same colour as the car.
i suggest u just spray them yourself, but slowly as you dont want any drips
