Hi guys....
I need help with the cd player in my wife's AU111. It's the single cd player. My 2 year old son filled the cd player with paper receipts and some coins!!! I have opened the unit up and removed all foreign objects and put the unit back together....It takes the cd's but isn't reading them.... Can anyone recommend a repairer in Sydney....I often look on ebay for a used one but they are hard to find....Thanks. Doug. |

you may have to go for an aftermarket one i think...the factory units don't seem to have a really great lifespan anyway, plus for the cost to get it fixed, it would probably be cheaper to get an aftermarket one...ie not a ford cd player

yeah i know, dont get me wrong the factory units arent bad, when they die tho, they die...it would be good to use the steering wheel controls, but my sony head unit has a remote anyway, and ive never had a car before with the controls so im not too worried...i find that a remote works better anyway simply because it has a lot more controls on it

You can get - and I will probably look into this for mine - a device that hooks into your steering wheel controls and emulates the IR signals of the remote. Only prob is it needs line of site to the head unit that might take a bit of creativity if you are after a clean look

There's something called a CAD or CAP or something similar that you can use to link a new strereo into the steering wheel buttons. It costs about $300 - $400 tho. Shame. Mine's on the way out again and I'd love to go MP3 but geez I love the steering wheel controls.
