Have a look around all the cars and exhausts. Most are running Pacies and those that arnt... probably 50% wish they were. I ditched JMM race headers for 4480 paccies and I'm glad I did.. need I say more?

Mate of mine had genies on his car, I had pacemakers on my old car, and I dont know much about HM headers..
But paccie comps are the pick of the bunch.. most people will tell you that. |

I'm not trying to have a go Casper, i'm simply curious as to how your opinion could have changed so much.

HM headers are used on HSVs.. unsure what else they are used on..
we sell them at supercheap auto ask for them at the spare parts counter.

HM Headers do a lot of research and development before they release any products.
Sometimes this means other manufacturers have their products out first, but at least you know HM headers will release something that will give you great performance. (The give a 10 Year warranty on their headers too !!) |

i have also noticed that the concensus seems to be with the PH4480's. what i would like to know is though, if i had them on my car would i need to rev the guts out of it to get to the power? i want to change the exhaust soon, but i would rather low end torque than power higher up, but i have heard the competition headers are designed to be revved?

That's where the HM's come out in front IMO.
Great low and midrange torque where you can use it, not just top-end where some other headers make their power. You will pick up about 8-10 KW. |

what about the pacemaker 4499's then? would they make better power through the midrange? people that have or have ahd pacemaker 4480's, what rpm range did these extractors use? and if anyone has or has had 4499's>the same question directed at you also

very simple pacies are the go !!!
4499 - for mild engines comps - for worked heads Simple as that . when you overkill on exhaust you loose performance |

All this basically means that, regardless of what Ford say, there is enough annicdotal evidence to say that there is most certainly something different between series 1 I6 heads and the series 2/3 heads. As for the Pacemaker 4480's now working for VCT's, thats a simple answer. Pacemaker saw there was an issue and changed both the shape and pipe diameter of the latest Comps.. problem solved. Also, in honesty, my cars rev range and tune has also been greatly effected by the histall and edit, this too may have had an effect on header performance as well.

The 4499's are bigger in the secondaries, flow more but lose lower rpm performance slightly.

I believe that one of the companies make the same dimensions as the competition pacemakers without the premium price. I'll try and find the brand when I get a few quotes around town. Is it possable to get an extractors guide thread similar to the pre-AU rims thread? Any thoughts? Thanks Adam

Hi-Tech headders i think is the bargain brand that i can remember?
i think i might ask at my local exhaust place if i get a chance this weekend. i am after more low end torque and not to be loud. i actually heard that i can use 2 1/4 inch pipe mandrel bent to give better back pressure at a sacrifice of note (which i dont care about anyway) can anyone confirm this? |

Just a query I had the 4499 Pacemakers fitted to my VCT Ghia in 2001. I don't think there was a 4480 being manufactured by Pacemaker at that time other wise I would have had them fitted as i beleive they do give a slight increase in mid range but any good extractor & exhaust system gives a good increase over the stock manifolds.
