Default Shiny painted Rocker Covers?

I go into Autobarn, and I see alot for the older V8s, V6s, Straight 6s.. but nothing for AU Sixes..

What Im wanting in a shiny Black cover with simply the ford logo in the center.. has any one seen anything like this, and how much would it set you back.. or would it be easier to simply grab one from the wreckers and have it painted?

If you can find one for an EF, it should also fit the non-VCT AUs. maybe even the VCT AUs, though I'm not sure.

I had a rocker cover powder coated black. Came up a treat, but i've decide now I'm getting it stripped back and applying a different finish

I painted mine VHT gloss, sanded back the raised parts on it and tibbo polished up the "intech OHC" part of it. Looks sweet as.

Does your rocker cover have that textured finish in it still ... looks smooth there.
I'd like to clean mine up a bit ... but going over it with a gloss looks like a good idea.

how hard is it to get the rocker cover off? i actually have a whole can of black shiny spray that i bought for the pvc extension piece on the intake mod i did. i'll just have to check if it can withstand heat i think. i also heard that a new gasket needs to be put on once the cover is removed, is this true?

The AU gasket is rubber and is reusable. The paint won't get that hot (The Rocker cover is usually only warm to touch), so no special paint needed (Just like there is no special paint on the inside panels of the engine bay).

Rocker cover is easy to get off. Just remove the accelerator and cruise cables clip screws, then undo the big bolts, and lift. If you removed the TB, it makes it a bit easier.

I think there are 4 nuts/bolts running down the centre of the rocker cover.
After removing plug leads, hoses etc, it should lift off fairly easy. I would recommend you replace the gasket, i also use a smear of silicone on both sides of the gasket for increased sealing, but you will require the type that does not affect the sensors etc.

Not really required to get a new gasket for the AU. But if you do, and you do get silicon as well, get the BlueMax stuff, it is sensor compatible. Again, it's not required though.

I'm going a different direction. The finish is much better than the Powercoat and the design looks fantastic. Just have to save my money.

I used gloss black engine enamel. Its pretty smooth.
