Just a heads up: Ford has developed a new ECU map for the WS/WT Fiestas.
Dealerships got the program last week. They reset and put the new tune on my WS: free of charge. First impressions: marginally better response, slightly better midrange torque. Might be something to consider if you have time. (They couldn't tell me why there was a new program out though...) |

I complained to Ford at my last service that my WS has a flat spot when it's first started in the morning just off idle, and they said they would have to release an ECU calibration update in about a months time. Maybe this is it?

A friend of mine is a Service Adviser at Gorell's Ford and he say's he's not aware of the upgrade. If it does exist (I had an update recently for the stereo and was advised it didn't do anything else) I'd be interested to see if it would affect my re-map if there is one!

My car was hesitant on cold mornings, worked better if you let it idle (like my R32 lol) for 3 minutes. It seems to be better after this remap. Wouldn't have thought cold was a problem for Fiesta's, coming from Europe and all......
Ford quality control - love it.... |

Ours hesitates when cold too, no big deal since it's fine after 30 seconds warm up. But I get a bit of a wobble going trying to reverse out the driveway (uphill) sometimes

Don't believe so - just for WS/WTs....
got my remap from Cumberland Ford Blacktown NSW. Watched them do it in the workshop so knew they weren't just pulling my leg. Results: better throttle response more than anything, starts/idles in the cold a little better - no big change though. Fuel consumption the same... Yes, mine also/still hesitates if you try and drive off in 1st within 10-30 seconds of start up - only in the colder mornings. Considering the car is made in Germany and Germany is such a hot country I'm not surprised. Oh wait, hang on, that's not right. Hmmm..... It's disappointing this seems to be a common problem - at least not isolated to one car... |

My WQ Zetec has had the problem from day 1..Cure ? start car and then put seat belt on and drive off. Works every time...ECU's been reflashed twice...no difference...
