Default aftermarket airbox

have spotted this on ebay and i am just wondering if anybody has one on their car? and if they have any luck i know that everyone who has a G&D or bluepower setup raves on about it. its certainly cheaper than the G&D setup and it looks to well made although cannot see anything to seal it around the edges but im sure that wouldn't be hard to do.

It certainly looks like a great bit of gear and is a lot better value than the comparatively priced SS snorkels. Remember that you have to add another $100 or so on top for the K&N filter. It also doesn't appear to be insulated, but being plastic I'm not too sure that that would matter.

I'd be going for it.

You remove the plastic deflector that sits on the inside of the grill to the side. Then you remove the headlight covers because they look horrible

Ask them, see what they have to say.

Just from the looks of it, the idea and the fact I know the G&D one is a good thing and is of the same style I am sticking to my previous comment that it will work.

Not much help to non-XR owners though. As it says in the ad, XR6 and XR8 Models.

I'd be up for this too. My effort is rather.... lacking. Factory box with hole in the front and a big K&N pod.

My husband Brian designed these as well as the gauge mounts that we are currently selling under my username 'miss aly' on ebay.

With the help of his work Acron Plastics, we were able to make these air boxes fit neatly with only 3 screws - Which makes it easier to get it in and out, instead of having a seperate cover etc

The Air Box is made to suit ALL MODELS not just the XR6 and XR8's. The air box will get adequate air from around the head light and beside the radiator. The original snorkel could be fitted into the side of the box if you felt the need.

We are currently in the process of trying to get a kit made for the AU's, we have pod filters available which are fram air hog ones which are washable - large size. Either 3" outlet or 3.5" outlet

We can't put up results because every car is different or has different modifications, age etc So all we can say is that it gives great results.

We are running them in our BA's and they are fantastic...The plus side with having the bigger air box in my BA XR6 Turbo is that it gives more power, better does sounds and better fuel economy ....10ltrs per 100k's around town, drops to 8ltrs on hwy. Hubby likes it in his XR8, makes it sounds more beefier, more power & fuel economy.

There is no need to insulate it, but you can if you want at a small cost..from Clark Rubber.

Hope this has answered some of your questions

Aly & Brian

I had a feeling this might have been the handy work of you two. Now knowing this I can honestly say that these will be of a very very high standard, just look at the quality of the gauge pods that they make for the AU.

well all the au boys will be very keen for this if they havn't already spent a fortune on the other air box's yet like the blue power or g&d. they are good but its an awful lot of money, the price of these is much more tamed and they should work a treat.
