I ask because thats probably what I'm going to do, put the ps2 next to my tower, run it through the tv tuner.

A mate said that running Ps2's vertically kills them, anyone heard this?

my mates was run vertically and he purchased it when they were about 2 months old, still going now.
We've got a slimline one, been running verticle since owned, i feel it'd be better for cooling.

Running it vertically wouldnt really affect it, besides maybe the spindel on the laser drive wearing a bit more... otherwise if you take car of it, their should be no problem though.

Plus odds are GT4 is the only game that I will buy for it, so it'll be in there so I dont have to worry about wear and tear of the lid or anything I guess. Also wondering what it would take to get a PStwo to run through s-video? My tv tuner has the s-video plug and a yellow plug next to it, dont know if thats audio or what but, perferrably I would like to run it through the s-video input, so if anyone does it or knows how please lets me know some how. Thanks Guys.

the yellow plug is simply VIdeo RCA.

the slimline PS2 can overheat if laying down, so vertical is the preference for them....

yeah, just give it plenty of air around it, i imagine it'd be fine.
from what i've heard u can connect a PS2 up with an S-Video cable, you have to get the cable seperate according to the manual.

S Video cable - SCPH-10060E

thats about all the info i can get.

if its like the other Gran turismo games, if you set the camber to ZERO and raise the car with soft suspension settings it should help with 1/4 mile times pretty much like a normal car.
i WILL have to buy this game now, probably tuesday finaly clocked SAN ANDREAS yesterday,72% done when credits rolled

yeah mate you could buy an svideo cable from sony. or i would recommend the easy way of a trip to dick smith and get an RCA -> svideo converter and then an svideo lead.

just a little thing that you plug the yellow RCA into and it has an svideo on the other end which you plug the svideo cable into :1syellow1

i have a s-video in on my 6600GT, dunno why but the ps2 seemed slightly blurry

Yea well I have one of those plugs for old tvs that only have the aerial plug, and I put that into the trusty old PS1 to see if it worked but it didnt seem like the quality was that great, but I think i'll true that first off once I get the PStwo and see what its like and try s-video thing. Is your 6600GT a video card? if so am I write in thinking that I could have the PStwo go inthrough the my Video card and the TV tuner? my tv tuner has that yellow RCA cable you were talking about as but the graphic card doesnt. Argh technology is quite confusing at times.

I just bought the game, it's really fun, but I made the mistake of buying a logitech steering wheel with it. It is sooo lame and I hate it. I can't play the game with it as I have to use the steering wheel on my legs, and it moves too much. Not to mention that the force feedback sucks and makes it impossible to drive. Other then that, I'm just getting into the game...just started out with the 1.4 Lupo that you get for passing the B licence test...

EDIT: By the way if anyone wants a cheap brand new Logitech Steering wheel PM me.

TO my amazement, my PC steering wheel that i got years ago actually works for this!
i'm fairly happy with that :P

Selekta, i think its safe to say that if u had a proper setup for the steering wheel and stuff u'd find it much easier to use. just need to mount it!

I'm still undecided, unlike in oz the game hasn't had rave reviews from ps2 owners in the U.S., not that it really matters but the majority of comments were that the game was basically gt3 with more cars, the Ai sucked and the ps2 is struggling to run the game smoothly.

Taking into consideration i would have to purchase a ps2/gt4 bundle and a memory stick would you still purchase the game if it didn't have the current oz car content?

Noddy, Honestly I would recommend buying it, I had some doubts about it too before I brought it anyway so about $320 later (I brought the pack too) I'm absolutly stoked with the game, I can't find anything wrong with it, the AI is fine, nothing wrong with it, A PS2 runs it fine dont know how it does but it runs fine, I reckon you'd be stoked with it if you decide to get it.

yeh me too... im happy with the game... better than GT3 simply because of car choice alone. plus better diversity of tracks n things you can do...
