HaHa certainly sucked me in - I was certain that it was a photo - it is now my background picture (if you don't mind) and I spent a fair while in my book collection trying to find the problem.

Great work - but what did you mean when you said "The pit glass got screwed up during the render"

Edit - don't worry about answering it I've worked it out myself - it's the ____pit canopy - who says I ain't slowwww.

Didn't the Spitfire have only 3 blades on the prop at the front and not 4?

Might aswell include my favourite fighter plane...

Mikoyan MiG 25P "Foxbat A" - fastest combat jet in the world.. capable of Mach 3.2 (3920km/h). Doubles as a fighter/interceptor and a spy-plane...

Early versions did but they found it was faster with the 4 bladed, some of the last versions were powered by the Rolls Royce Griffon V12 and had contra-rotating props (2 sets spinning in opposite directions)

The Spitfire evolved into the Spiteful, and the naval version of the spitfire became the Seafire which evolved into the Seafang.

With the Griffon II motor the Seafang could do over 525mph in a dive.

details obtained from "Spitfire A complete fighting History"

Cheers
