I saw this on the 16th when it was released here in the UK an i thought it was ok, wee bit cheesy but story line not bad, few good sound tracks in it aswell. Much better than the silly pathetic 2 Fast 2 Furious i thought.

Only prob was that ppl who went into watch it came out thinking they could drift in the multi-story car park where the cars get parked for the cinema an there was a few near misses

Ok here my spill. This movie was not bad. Its heaps better then the 3rd. But the 1st well it was great. Anyway they cut alot of just crap special effects out of it. I dont think N02 got used at all in the movie. It got more physical violence in it then the first and second. Vin made a apperance and it was pretty cool. The first drag was alright.

The worst thing was the engine in the stang. But oh well. Very different to the first two movies.

I have it a 8/10

Jeff

Yeah i also went and saw it the day it came out.. I actually didnt mind it, apart from a cowboy turning into a D1 Drifter, that seemed a bit weird. I wanted to see the very last drift race, at the end :(. I think the best part about the movie was the chick in it.. Shes HOTT!
Give it a 8.5/10 only coz of the chick, and the sick mustang.

In the context of the movie, the cars are drifting and racing tight, twisty corners, a V8 would be too nose heavy. That's the basis for my comment above on their choice of engine. Plus it would simply be way over the top to come out with a 40 year old Mustang with a V8 and try and believe that it could seriously have a chance against any worked turbo Jap machine such as the 350Z in the movie. Old school vs Modern is cool, but in the movie, no matter how much you hate Ricers/Imports/Jap Crap or whatever you want to call it, they're just too cool and in real life, too quick to argue with.
The top US drift car last year was a Viper.. What does that say? Also, the CAPA's are doing well over here..

Not that I don't think the RB26 isn't a good engine (I think it's great), a V8 could keep on par.

Good movie, well worth it for the entertainment at the end of the day i enjoyed the drifting although the film was SO short. It just seemed to end abruptly.
Bloody americans and their short attention spans.

PS. Rb26DET has many well known problems. Dont know about it being the best in power, weight and torque lol. An LS1 will make loads more power more easily and weighs less taking into account all the turbos and accesories. 2JZ will have stacks more torque, etc.

yeh i saw it last night, quite impressed, a fair bit of 'hollywood' in it.Some bad points were that It was like, "give me a montage and i can be a D1 drifer too!" and in the chase scene where DK is trying to kill hahn(i think it is) and the american, they are fleeing for their lives but still drift their way through the city... i know for sure that if it was me being shot at i wouldnt waste time looking stylish,id get the h*ll out of there asap which would include as much traction as possible!
Overall a very cool movie
