That is a good deal.

ATM dealers are selling them around the $34-35K mark and leather is a $2K option point blank.

So you are getting a good deal.

I paid "list" price for mine (I have a friend in fleet sales who lined it up) and I paid $40100 in feb 09 for an 08 plate in Electric Orange with leather and sunroof and all on roads.

Prices are a little different now but I still think $35k with leather is pretty good. White would be a little cheaper still and a buttload easier to clean. My last car was a Panther Black LR focus (exact same colour) and it never looked clean enough.

Those are superb pics!! Am I right in assuming the plain white is lowered? Does look good with the black rims as well!!

Thanks and will keep you posted. Been offered white or silver for $34500 or do I go for silver '09 build, early '10 registered with about 500k's on it which I could probably get for about $31- $32k if I'm lucky.......decisions?!

Appreciate the feedback guys.

$34500 brand new in white or silver is all right. It is comparitive to my offer of 35500 with leather. But I still reckon next month in June we will see further discounting. Not much maybe an extra 1000.
The question I am asking myself is do I (painfully) wait and see, or will they just be cleaning out the shelves so to speak (floor stock) and not taking any orders at the low discounted price?

I'm thinking exactly the same. I think there will always be a deal to be had the closer to the end of the fin year, but with the current ford discounts, maybe not too like you say......although if it's another $1000, that's not bad and better of in my pocket!!

tell her they are being cancelled, so 1) they will come down in price (lie, but she doesn't need to know that) and say because it so unique, one day itll be worth lots of money (lie, but once again, she doesn't need to know ).

Then say it has ancap 5 star safety rating, and you love her very much and want her to be safe

Deposit just this minute paid on a new Silver LV XR5 with mats, iPod cable and 12mths rego
Hoping my bank can get things sorted quickly as i'm itching to get behind the wheel.
Dealt with a very nice chap from a Brisbane dealer who made things very easy and was the furthest thing from a cocky pushy car salesman!!

Pics to follow and I must say thank you again to all those who have helped me make my mind up and who have passed on info about the car, very much appreciated.

Aye, Mick

yeah boy!!!

Also, if you want top notch, hassle free servicing and even a great place to get some mods installed, go See "Barnsey" and the boys at nova ford in Caboolture.

I'm actually coming up from syd to see them in a couple of weeks and we are having a an xr5 get together if you'd like to come along?

glad you guys jumped in and bought as i wouldn't be too sure they'll lower the price anymore than it is now? as sarge (i think) said, the demand for these cars outstrips the supply and more often than not there is a wait to get one.

enjoy the experience!!

@ casabonka... it's only money mate and you can't take it with you!!

Picked my new car earlier this morning, very happy with it. Looks much better in the flesh and drives much better than I remember (test drove one about 8 months ago and didn't bother testing it again before ordering).
Paid $34,000 flat on road for it with iPod cable, mats and extended 3 yr dealer ltd warranty after standard ford warranty runs out - not a bad deal i thought plus the sales guy was easy to deal with and it all happened over the phone.
Bang for your buck you get a lot of car for the price and I could quite easily listen to the exhaust noise all day long.....instant satisfaction when you bury the accelerator pedal!!!

Anyhoo,t hanks again to everyone for helping me make up my mind and I'll try and remember to take some pics tomorrow for the benefit of all.

Aye,Mick

P.S. I think the price I paid should be pretty much it even though it's end of fin year, but keen to hear if anyone else gets a better deal closer to 30th June out of interest.

Not had time to take any pics yet but wondering if anyone can help with some small questions after a week of ownership. Still only 34oks on it (busy at work just now) but have noticed a reasonable amount of play in the drive line when changing from 1st to 2nd? I get a couple of clunks/clicks from the tail shaft(s) as the load comes off when pressing the clutch for the up change? Is this normal in the LV and can it be 'tightened'?

Secondly, 'blipping' the throttle on the down change is sometimes a non event as the pedal has to travel a few inches before it revs. Can this be dialed out or throttle response increased at all either from factory ECU settings or with an aftermarket ECU flash?

Small issues I know as I get used to driving the car but seems like a lot of play in the drivetrain for a new car and I have owned a few in my time but none with this much play from new.

Other than these small issues, loving the car just now........apart from the annoying chime when you start it with your seat belt off. I have read this is just something I will have to live with but if anyone finds out how to disable it please let me know. I ALWAYS wear my seat belt and hate listening to chimes in cars

Ok, here goes *cracks knuckles*
The click/clunks you here when changing from first to second i believe are normal. I hear it too. Mainly when the car is cold though. I find that it you are too quick with pulling the gear lever out of first before the clutch hits the floor, you will hear it. They grip very low, so it's important to have the clutch pedal all the way in before you change.

Secondly, blipping issue will sort itself out. The throttle is electronically control and will learn your driving style. Mine is super sensitive and literally tap it to blip for the down shift.

Finally, you should be able to disable the chime through the menu options while the car is stationary (It should be in the manual).

Let us know how you go

As i wrote on xr5, try chaning out of first at higher revs, 2,200-2,500+ rpm.

To get a good throttle blip you need to press harder (further) than you are normally used to as its an electronic throttle, rather thanc able throttle.

Also with the chime, press down on the seatbelt release and it won't chime

Thanks again XR5-Boy & SgtBourne, now I know it not an issue with my specific car and is just how they are, I am not so worried and will, i'm sure, get used to it.
Does seem that the engine prefers to be reved rather than pottering around town.

Thanks and chat soon once I have managed to rack up a few more k's

Aye, Mick

They certainly do like to rev!

1st and 2nd will need to rev to about 2500, but after that, the torque will get you by ;)

Definitely changing above 2500 revs but still geting the clunks as the load comes off the drive line, but as it seems it's an XR5 thing, I'm not too worried.
I think i'll mention it at the 3000k service to see what the response is.

Cheers again

It's a ford, it could have fire coming from the engine bay, and on a 3000K service inspection they'll say "It's normal" haha

Ain't that the truth, I have an 06 Territory which has ongoing starting issues and occasionally goes into limp mode. Each time it goes for a check up I get a new reason why it's not starting properly and also told the car computer can sometimes play up and do funny things.............filled with confidence every time I leave the dealership!!
Apparently it's normal to need to break discs skimmed every 25,000ks as well?!?!?
Not sure if i'm mad for buying another Ford but time will tell!!

Cheers, Mick

You're not mad for buying another ford, you're just mad for going BACK to them for help ;)

But in all seriousness, if you want a dealer you can actually trust, go to Nova ford and talk to Barnsey
