Fairmont99, I wouldn't worry about it too much. i have a theory that nobody wants to be the bucknaked of anything, so you and i are the only to brave enough to post our "low output" V8 results!

We should have a torque output - we would slay all the 5.0 non-supercharged manuals on that list (at the rear wheels)!!!

Kermmy....I think this dyno and Jim Mocks had a difference of 10-15 kws.AU Fairmont S was also down a bit too.But as we all know different dynos give different results.

It really comes down to different dynos and different gears. The JMM dyno is an older one so it runs autos in 2nd gear. Most newer dyno dynamics run in 3rd gear. As a dyno simply takes torque and converts it to power through a complex set of formulas it goes without saying that running in 2nd will produce a better torque figure at the rear wheels than running in 3rd. At least thats my understanding of it.
In the end I'm not at all worried about it. The car is still the same car, it still runs a 6.xx second 0-100 and a 15.0 1/4 mile.
A dyno is a toll for tuning, nothing more. So long as the "after" figure is better than the "before" figure I'm happy. This is one thing JMM have never failed to do, it always leaves there running higher numbers. Now how that translates on each different dyno really doesnt concern me, just so long as it keeps improving.

Fair enough Casper.

Are the manuals usually more accurate?

In your case the JMM dyno was probably done in 3rd and most others will be done in 4th. So long as your happy with the car and how it performs I wouldnt worry too much about the dyno numbers....just the performance on the 1/4. Dynos can always be disputed......the 1/4 mile cant be. Time is a fixed number.

By fixed I mean it takes a set time for a car to travel a distance. It can be stuffed up but it can never be "fudged" to be faster than it actually is. Unlike a dyno which can be "fudged" to read just about anything.

I think Casper is putting out more than 135 bananas. That dyno had some calculation issues when inputted for the sixes.

I was happy with a 123rwk I thought it would get between 105-115rwk. Then to be told it is running rich. The thing is the car gets 10.7 to 11.5 on the h/way on the c/c panel and 14 to 14.5 around the city. Will in time have someone to look at why its running rich its no racer.

The dyno had no calculation issues. Like they say about musicians, you're only as good as your last performance ..

I know there's more than a 15.5 in my car, but thats what i have down as my car's quarter mile time, because thats what it ran officially the last time.

The dyno was fine, there were numerous cars there which proved that.

The dyno is accurate, my car was 30kw down on normal, but that my was fault due to the way i presented the car to the dyno operators.

I actually agree. The dyno, regardless of specualtion, was done same day, same setup for all the cars. So, at least for the cars that were there, it is an accruate reflection of comparitive power per car. I have no issues with the results at all.

Come Heathcote is April we will get another chance to do a direct comparison of cars...same day, same track...different form of test.

Dyno days are good fun and provide a valuable source of information....but they are not the be all and end all. Neither is the 1/4 mile (although I do think it is a better way to test the whole package..driver included). In the end its just all good fun and regardless of if oyu got 80rwkw or 200rwkw, so long as we had fun it was worth it.
