Check the striker on the B pillar isn't loose. Could also be a failure of the latch, with the door open use a screwdriver to latch it closed, if it feels like it's not latching well then it will be knackered.

Lock your car with the remote then check that all the doors are actually locked from the outside, this bouncing back was happening to me with my driver's door when my rear driver's side central locking actuator was stuffed, and was throwing out the whole system.

The striker may need a little repositioning also!

All the best with it.

Let us know what it was.

what series car is it? i read in a review about au1's that the front hinges tend to sag a bit over time, ive noticed this on mine, although my door closes properly, but if the door is sitting too low from the latch, then you may need to look at replacing the hinges

Not too hijack the thread, but on the hinges sagging issue, does anyone elses series one have really bad front door rattle while driving over bumpier roads? My front door rattel like hell when going over rough roads.
