Default 2L convertion

Hello,

I recently purchased a 2L motor from a wrecker (in landsdale, for those of you in perth) and I payed $385 for this one in particular, and he threw in the radiator and exhaust, could anyone tell em if thats a reaosnable amount to pay ??? Also the thing that puzzled me was that he said it had "twin or two chokes" would that imply that it is a double barrel carby ( i no for a fact that it is a weber). Anyways i believe that i have done my homework on this, but there is always you forget! Any advice or things I should double check ???

Thanks guys

Was the engine out of a cortina or an escort?? From memory, the sumps were different.

They came out stock with a two barrel weber carby.

Default 2 ltr conversion

a bit off topic but not really

was just posting to another member about a 2 ltr coversion mark 2 escort

the radiator will be required i know the man who worked for ford and was responsible for the escorts production

if your putting it into a mark 2 from a 1.6 escort you will need to do this

Will fit, just change radiator, gearbox, clutch.driveshaft and maybe the rear end.
intresting info if required if not just disreguard post :

I sell 2lt pintos for $100-150 without accessories or $300-400 running, so if the engine was running when you bought it, its not a bad price.
It terms of conversion, they are a straight swap for a 1600. You have to make some adjustment for the deeper radiator, exhaust and alternator/starter wiring but its all easy stuff. You can even use the same clutch.....but if you've got the engine out, you might as well change it while you are at it.
As for the weber, it should be a 32/36 2 barrel downdraft. The manual choke models are best, but its most likely an auto (water) choke, so you may have to do a bit of plumbing....basically from heater hose thru choke to manifold. Simple.
