OK, Dad is wanting to upgrade the brakes on his AUII XR. At the moment it has the standard 287mm discs. What is required to fit the 329mm Tickford style discs and calipers and what would be the cost. It has 17" wheels already so fitting inside the wheels is no problem.
I know there have been people that have done it but after searching for a while I can't find anything on it... Cheers

The calipers should just bolt up, and the discs should just slide on. Upright etc is the same between AU2 and 3, so there should be no issues. Not sure if the Premium system got a different brake booster or master cylinder though. I doubt it, but it's possible that they were different. Premium brakes also come with metal sleeves over the flexible brake lines (to help retain fluid pressure).
This won't be a cheap exercise - bank on something over the $1500 mark. He would be far better off just putting DBA slotted rotors all round (approx $800 all up?) This will improve braking by about 5m for 100-0 braking test.

The rear brakes are the same except for the rotors.
The Fronts are PBR Cobra calipers and they retail at around $350 - 400 each side If i remember correctly. Price DBA rotors for the new front rotors factory ones are crap and overpriced! So you need FRONT PBR Cobra Twin spot calipers X2 for the front. DBA 329mm slotted rotors (4000 or 5000 series) To suit Au premium brakes X 2. Pads EBC Green are my choice but there other good brands $200 approx for fronts. Brake lines for the Front calipers or get a adaptor made up where it fixes to the caliper. REAR DBA 289mm slotted rotors to suit Normal Au2 - 3 falcon for the rear And brackets to mount the calipers. Pads to match fronts. John @ Cebco Brakes will sort you out. www.cebcobrakes.com.au Heaps of us have been dealing with him lately and he offers OUTSTANDING customer service and absolute NO BS advice. Have fun

You'll need the braket to mount the Premium Calipers up front. Other than that, Sylox pretty much covered it.

i did that eact conversion for an AU1 a year ago
for an AU2 you will need: - Calipers (~$500 second hand) - Brackets (inc with calipers) - rotors - DBA 4x4 (~$750ea) - pads - kingmetals (~$150) - bolts (inc with calipers) recommend: - braided lines - RDA approved (~$200) for AU1 you also need the follwoing: - strut upright - lower control arm - swaybar - swaybar brackets - brake lines Good Luck Mic |

Sylox and Evilchief have got it right
Converted mine from the standard AU2 to the AU3 TS50 set up about 2 months ago the longest thing about the exercise was bleeding and flushing the entire system 2 bottles of Castrol Super Response DOT4 fluid to come out clean, it was just a R & R for the brake system took all of a couple of hours to complete and I was not working constantly flat out either The only thing I had to purchase was a set of front brake hoses as the stay for the line on the strut was different between the TS and the XR and it was not clipped in securely (XR had a bigger clip than the Koni suspension on the TS) and also the banjo connection at the back of the caliper was a different offset to the standard calipers and I had the lines custom made at about $75ea from a brake shop.
