Hey,
I have an AU Falcon Forte Sedan, and was wondering what rpm do you guys usually run at when doing 110km/hr on the freeway? Mine runs at 2000rpm (in economy mode with A/C off), however I remember when I had my EL Falcon it would do this at about 1700 to 1800rpm. Is this normal for an AU? Cheers Luke |

Mine sits dead on 2000rpm
BUT NOTE: Your 100kph rpm will change depending on your diff ratio. The higher the diff ratio, the more rpm it will sit on. eg. My car (I Think) has a 3.45 diff and will sit on 2000rpm, the same car/engine with a 3.27 or 3.23 diif will sit on about 1800rpm at 100kph. Stick some 4.11's in and.. well, a bit more then 2000rpm

I haven't really checked mine , but from what i have read on here about the reliability of a mojority of the falcon tacho's, i wouldn't trust most of them to be acurate anyway , most are probably +/- 300 rpm out roughly .

From what i've heard, when they are sitting on a number and not really moving, the radout is ok, it's when reving hard and fast that it seems it can't keep out, or is a bit out... could be wrong though....

i guess you could always open the diagnostic readout to test if the needle is reading correct.
Does any one else here have a problem with their needles sticking? my fuel one did it a week or so back which meant my empty tank light was coming on despite the needle still being out of the red. i fuelled up anyways and managed 60L or so. indicating the needle must have stopped?

My 100 km/h is 105 km/h indicated but 100 km/h true road speed. So mine is 2,000 rpm at 105 km/h indicated.

depends also if its auto or manual, manuals rev a lil higher as 5th is tiny bit shorter than o/d gear in the auto

im sitting on 2000rpm in 4th ( in auto ) ..
Like my old 4 speed auto years ago , i find myself not using the 4th gear much really as the rpm's are too low imo, i definatelly wanna look at changing my diff ratio to 4.11's to make 4th a bit more usable, and give me better acceleration in the lower gears too . The way the standard xr auto goes now is like the 4 speed auto setup i had in my XE years ago ( but with the v8 ) , almost feels identicle in the power to speed/gear changing ratio , and in my XE i didn't use 4th much either until i put in 4.11's , made a huge difference , vg

Ok, quick reread.
So, from the data gathered here, my SR Sedan revs the lowest @ 100kmph doing 1,700RPM. Why would it be a full 100 lower than everyone elses? *GK's eyes dart left and right looking for those watching him as he slowly backs into the corner of the room!* LOL! GK

Different rim/tyre profile, diff size?, rev gauge not as good.....
I think AU diff sizes were 3.23, 3.27, 3.45, and you can also get 3.7x 3.9 and 4.11..... and 3.23 and 3.27 would give about a 100 rpm diff...

Perhaps it's the diff then! I'm not complaining.
