all i did was pull the instrument cluster out and painted the surround in Ford blue like various other small things inside my AU then changed the standard cluster lights to blue LED's
you gotta very carefully scrape the red paint off the hands with a sharp razor blade or something similar effectively making them clear then you can see the blue light through them
fairly basic and innexpensive
dunno if thats the effect your after but yeah
hope it helps

yeah, sort of after that effect, although i dont want to paintthe outside bit, i want to actually change the cluster design, you know? like maybe a white background with red dials etc etc.

EvilChief - how are the dials off ebay. I have heard mixed reports that someone's mate reckons they're crap, etc. But if you have them (I assume you mean the ones for $70), and you reckon they are OK, I might just give them a go.

Rob, there is a company in Melb that does the whole bit, (imitation) woodgrain dash, coloured and carbonfibre dash and instruments clusters etc.

From memory they were out around the Kilsyth (spelling?) area.

The only problem is that i've lost the damn link!!
As soon as I find it I'll get back to ya :-)

Roger.

Yep, that could well be the place.

The people I spoke to, quite a while ago, either did the fitting for you or you could buy a kit.

AU stuff here...

I had my cluster mask done by modicoat - they did an awesome job. I bucked the woodgrain/brushed alloy/carbon fibre trends and had a custom snake print pattern done. Did the door handles and the strip above the passenger airbag too.

Yeah, they are a stand-out feature, because everything modified on the car has been done by others as well. Always get a comment whenever someone new gets into the car.

I got them before. They wernt the best design the emtech ones (expensive $200) are much better quality. The only problem i found with them is the plastic is too thing like when i indicated it lit up other sections of the cluster... no matter what you did (i tried everything) the plastic was too thin. I eventually gave up and was going to live with it but dropped the cluster on the way out the door.... now i have an xr cluster

maybe white back ground with dark red other bits, hmmm.. maybe not
:

how much for a genuine cluster then?
