As you can see, the lights for the 1 & 2 key do not work, and also the number 3 key is not functioning properly, i.e. does not do anything when pressed. I was after some guidance as to what to do. I assume it involves unscrewing the whole unit, and taking it out to replace a bulb? What will fix the number 3 button? Help appreciated Cheers TPH

In all honesty the easiest and best thing to do would be chuck it and get a new one. I have never replaced a bulb in one but being the tempramental pieces of junk that they are, I imagine as soon as you pull it apart it will never be the same.

i don't think you'd be able to change the light bulb without seriously damaging the unit itself. easiest to just change the whole damn thing to an aftermarket one

The lights inside these headunits are tiny little '2mm' globes 'soldered' to the circuit board, it would be possible to change them if your good with the soldering iron and magnifying glass ( caution , very fine 'damagable' tracks on the pcb ).
If you'de like to get creative, there is actually enough room behind the faceplate of the headunit to mount led's behind it, which would glow through the white part of the plastic which lights up the buttons. If you ever blow the globe/cathode ? behind the main LCD, then i'de just chuck it imo as this part of the unit inside is sealed like a bolt on the pcb / clips/solder everywhere etc etc. Oh, and with buttons not working, this can be an easy fix sometimes - check the following. If you remove the headunit you will see a screw on either side of the front facepanel keeping the facepanel on, loosen the screws lightly then pushing the face of the unit hard against the body retighten the screws again. Sometimes if the screws were not originaly tight enough and if the buttons have been pushed hard, it pushes the back of the unit away from the face of it slighly over time, thus causing some buttons not to work. Its either that or the small micro-switches on the pcb are broken. Cheers.Gl
