The blur XR8 fell through, the offered me $500 for my EL and wouldn't budge : But on the upside it would appear that I might have found myself another XR8. This time a AUII XR8 MANUAL in silhouette, leather interior, premo sound, sunroof, AUIII rear bar, SS inductions intake, and it feels like it has a rip shifter. It has 124,xxxk on it but they are asking 19,990 for it and a trade in of 2,500 for my EL. Sound fair?

Here's a link to it Clicky What you guys reckon? Apparantly it used to be owned by a member if the FPV & Tickford club of Vic who traded it in on a GT-P. Anyone confirm this, it still has the club sticker on the back window.

Bit high on the k front...I have the current Glass's dealers guide. Average k's for 01 AU11 is 97000.
I suppose add up how much rego is left and tyre wear,is it one owner, has the service history then I'd make up my mind.

get the 8

oh and, get the 8.

THE 8, GET IT.

I'm guessing the 220 will drink a bit more fuel than the VCT, my 5lt el drinks about 1 litre per 100km more than the 6cyl version, but sounds oh so much nicer, and has torque a-plenty.

Get the 8, and talk them down to around 17, and if you get it for that price, it's a steal! with that amount of k's etc etc.

Not sure on the rego, Tyres are near new and the same all round, service history is complete and full. K's average out to about 23,000 a year which isn't bad.

They are but i've heard that the 5.0 V8 isn't as bad on fuel as a BA 6.

Still too much, I payed 18,000 for S3, 93,000 kms, no leather though. Keep looking, try private also, the yards mark them up to a ridiceleous price.

Really I should say that I would get it for 18,500 as I pushed the trade in price on mine up. The most i've been offered elsewhere is $1000 for mine.

I was in a similar position to yourself, until I test drove a 220KW XR8. Once you hear the roar of the Windsor and get shoved back in your seat, there is really no alternative but to get the V8.

Well I think you have got your answer about 20 times over. There are two things I regret about my latest purchase, one its a 6, and secondly its an auto.

People who say that the auto bit doesn't matter are crazy, a manual V8 (or manual anything) is alot more enjoyable than an auto.

But if it was the original chioce, the id go the VCT. But now you can get the V8 so all is right in the world...lol

I totally agree that the 8's the go but the price they are asking IMO is still to high. The car probably owes them about 14k.

Er no, we're not crazy. I get a bit sick of people whinging about cars being auto and not manual. Its a personal choice thing, but I guarantee you that an auto is a LOT easier to live with than a manual.

Well i'm off to Dandenong tomorrow to do the paperwork for this black one. I've had a bit of a look and it seems that this is about the average amount of kays and the price also seems to be about average. I'm getting it all checked out at Mike's Dyno's before I sign anything though. It also seems that it has T series front seats as they have the tickford logo stitched into them.

These have just got the tickford logo, but i'm told by someone that would know that the XR's didn't have any stitching in the backrest. Possibly a custom job?

More than likely theyre a custom job or a seat swap, they didnt come with any embroidery from the factory.

"We're"...I own a auto now, previously had a T5 though. and when.if my auto dies, an T5 will be taking its place.

This discussion has been done to death, I agree some days an auto is great, but the majority of the time Im wishing that I had a third pedal.

Also GreenEL's previous car was/is a T5, so perhaps he prefers manuals?

Personally I do prefer a manual, I always feel like i'm in more control of what the car is doing and I like that. But there are still days that I would prefer an auto and when it comes to a V8 the difference isn't as bad as with the 6. I'm still going the manual though. :eclipsee_

8 + manual =

Price & kms are on the high side, my T-series had less kms for the same sort of dollars & I've seen ones for a fair bit less lately but if your happy with the price & condition go for it.

The T3s had the Tickford symbol on the seats rather then the model like in the T2s so it's possible.
