Let us know how you go with the install, and post up some pics too (though I guess they'll look the same as the pics in this thread already)

Accelerator and brake pedal from EB to AU3 are not that much different. In fact the AU1 part number for the accelerator pedal is EA 9N736 B (I guess the EA means EA) and the brake pedal is ER 2455 B. Just did a search for EA-ED, and the accelerator part number is EA 9N736 B (same as AU1), and the braske pedal part number is EA 2455 C for manual (pretty close to the AU auto part number). So you should be able to follow the modifications in this thread and fit the pedals no worries at all. Only one condition - you can't tell any other E series guys - don't want to make them all jealous! LOL.

I updated my previous post with part numbers - as you can see, they're the same or similar, so you should be fine. The $50 pedals have all gone (there were only 9 sets, and I got 2 of them), but there are others there for $80 "Buy Now" (on ebay), which is still cheaper than the $120 Ford want.

Hi Guys,

Great job on the pedals they look fantatstic. I have a small question is there any reason why the auto pedal set does not have the Ford logo on the accelerator? Can you buy the accelerator alloy pedal seperately from the brake pedal or do they come as a set?

Because I want the ford branding on the pedal

Cheers
Engineer

Im sorta kicking myself now ! - about a month back in supercheap auto they had a complete set of "complete set alloy/race pedal covers, steering wheel , gear knob and seatbelt covers" , all in a complete set clearing them for about $25 , i nearlly got 1 except i have a auto , so the gearknob was useless to me , the steeringwheel didn't allow the connection of the airbag (nice wheel and geanknob though ) - so it was unroadworthy for the AU .. And cos it was for a manual i didnt even think of using the 3rd pedal for the footrest and chopping the brake a bit to fit the manual brake pedal size . It all looked quiet nice too ( all in black/blue ) and chrome with blue chrome pedal covers , would of been worth it just for the footpedal covers now i look at it . darn .

JC since i havent had a chance to start my pedals yet,do you remove the silver plate from the hard rubber base of the pedal in order to fit this self tapper in the bottom right corner?

No, the self tapper goes in from behind the brake pedal. So through the back of the metal pedal and screws into the hard rubber of the pedal cover. The only screw that goes through the front is the one that comes with the pedal.

Steve - the brake pedal literally takes about 15 mins to fit. The accelerator is closer to an hour, so do the brake first. It gives you the motivation to do the accelerator.

It might be worth reading the thread from the first post - both methods of accelerator pedal attachmrent are mentioned, and pics shown of each.

but it doesnt say if the accelerator mechanism from the BA will plug straight into the AU plug. I mean I have all the black plastic mechanism that has a 7 pin plug socket, the whole accelerator pedal and arm connected to it

Is that all the electrics etc for the BA accelerator as well? If so, then no, it will not fit an AU, as the AUs are reliable, oops, old-fashioned cable connection between pedal and throttle-body, where BAs use drive by wire ("technology").

JC i gotta say you did an awesome job with your instructions. With the Brake pedal i used the good ole grinder to make it fit,the hardest part was attempting to become a contortionist to get the self tapper in the bottom right corner.
As for the front, once i realised you needed to remove the cover from the curved BA accelerator pedal it was relatively easy, just cut parts off the Au pedal till it was a snug fit then used superglue to attach.
Thanks guys!!!

i saw a set of pedals on a super cheap auto catalogue, where you just put them over your existing brakes and accelerator. they're around $20 how are they if anybody has had them or knows somebody that does?

I had the fake ones on my old AU2 V8. They nearly cost me my car. The screws got stuck in the carpet, so the throttle was stuck on. Not good.

The BA ones do fit easily enough, with a bit of coercion - it's about 2 or 3 hours work, I guess.

Didnt read the rest of the thread to find out if it had been covered, but whats the go with the legality of this? I dont imagine chopping up your pedals is exactly "ok" when it comes to things like roadworthiness?

It's only a little bit of chopping, and the pedals end up being very securely attached. Not sure on legality, but it's a pretty permanent mod, so I don't really think they could tell.

Sorry JC i should clarify - didnt mean to suggest that you were doing illegal stuff etc, just wanted to be sure. I really like the ook of them and wouldnt mind doing them myself, but I dont trust myself enough to cut into the pedals etc.

I had a quick glance over the ADR index the other day and i couldn't see any topics that related to pedals. I've also asked a mate of mine who's a part of the donut patrol and he hasn't ben able to find anything that says its illegal yet. to answer the another possible question, I also checked the NRMA insurance PDS and they had no mention of those types of mods except to warn the need of reporting mods that make the car "more desirable."

This ins't the final word but its a start.
