Hi Mavbass
Been reading your thread, just a thought...It may be your computer due to a spike download the track.. Try disconnecting your battery lead over night, so that the computer will loose its memory, then in the morning reconect the lead and let it idle for a while at let the computer reboot the new commands..Just my 2 cent worth..Doesnt hurt to try... I have solved a few problems this way.. Cheers |

Not a problem.. i am a motor mechanic from years back, It will just reboot your computer...But do it over the weekend so you can let the car idle for 15 min then drive the car slowly then hard, and that should do it...Its helped a few times with hard to find problems, hope this works for you.
Cheers |

just to add, the reset procedure has been posted on here many times. it is;
d/c battery say overnight start car foot on brake, in drive, a/c off, let idle 2min foot on brake in drive, a/c on, idle 2 min in park, a/c off, let idle 2 min in park a/c on, idle 2 min then drive under various throttle positions for 10 or so min and all should be good |

It stalled again yesterday. It happens when the auto fan/cooling kicks in. |

when it stalls is it while your driving along or when your pulling up???? if when pulling try giving your throttle body and isc a good clean out then do a ecu reset and then reset your base idle....

My XR8 is doing this at the moment had it checked this morning by a friend who has the diagnostic equipment and it said i have high/low voltage errors to my TPS (throttle positioning sensor) which is causing it to rev lower at idle as it can't read were the throttle is. When the air con comes on drawing more power from the motor it stalls. My car at idle is reving around 500 rpm but it should be up around 650-750 rpm according to my ford book. Maybe this could be the same problem you are having. But get it plugged into a diagnostic computer and it'll tell you what it is. My local mechanic who happens to be a friend did it for me this morning for nothing took 5 min. Don't pay Fraud's 100 dollars an hour for a 5 min job. Hope this helps.

Thanks, that does help.
I'm going to take it to Fords for a diagnostic check up, unfortunately I don't know any local mechanics who have the equipment. I'm thinking it's the same problem as yours. What's the cure? |

i replaced the TPS (throttle position sensor) on top of the throttle body and it fixed it. That was monday. Ford said the series 3 run a special one for them but my mate had a few spare of his EB Xr8 and it works just fine and reads the same voltage output. It should come up as soon as they plug the diagnostic computer in.
