G'day all,
I can recall reading something about braided brake hoses in the past, did a search and could'nt find exactly what i want to know. Anyway, the brakes on my au1 forte are ok having installed new pads and rotors and as far as i know there is no air in the system or leaks etc, but the brakes feel a little spongy. I have read that the au1 brakes are not the greatest and I was wondering if I install braided hoses whether they would improve the ( hardness) of the brakes. I intend to have them professionally installed and they are not exactly cheap. I was wondering if other members who have used these hoses could tell me if they think it worth doing or not. Any comments greatly appreciated thanks |

Hey mate.....I have braided line on my ute.....they are a little better more so after alot of hard braking is when there is a real noticable difference....as for your spongy brakes I dont really think braided line will help it that much...in fact it may cover up another problem.....which could let go at a very important time....it could be your master cylinder or also check all the vacum lines going to the master cylinder back to the manifold as one may be blocked....just have a good look.....if that is all okay jack the front of the car up....put axle stands in and remove the front wheels then get someone to carefully get in the car and pump the brake pedal up.....looking closely at the brake line to see if they are deforming with the brakes pumped up and applied....if so just get a new set of normal brake lines...alot cheaper than Braided!!!
Goodluck mate!!!

I hear they're worthwhile to buy....but as CATFORD said, it may not fix what you think is your problem.
Crescent Motors @ Liverpool (nsw) sell them all made up to go.

My AU 1 has these braided lines fitted all round they were supplied and fitted at Cresent Motors "9600-6229".
Gets rid of the fade and pulls the car up a better than the standard set-up.

I saw the braided brake lines on special at repco for $150 a pair in the last catalogue. PBR make them. They look good, I might get some too!

i thought they were pbr....if you did get them, it's also a good time to do a system drain and flush while your at it as well, considering you have to bleed the brakes anyway...or get a mechanic to do it, either one
