Hey guys,
Just recently bought xr5 rims for my 2007 ford focus Zetec and need some tyres. Can anyone recommend either the "Falken F K 452" or "Toyo Proxes T1R", or others that fall around the same category? I'd love to pickup the Goodyear Eagle's F1 Asymmetric, but for $400 dollars a pop.. its quite damn expensive. I have had a look on tirerack.com, where they have em on special for $188 each! But when you include shipping, GST, Customs, Import Tax your looking at $333 a tyre, still over 60 bucks cheaper a tyre, but not cheap enough for me at the moment. So does anyone know of any places in Melbourne that import tyres in bulk and sell cheap, like tempetyres.com.au in NSW? PS: Would tyre size 225/45/18 fit my car? or is 225/40/18 max? |

Mate, Kumho KU31's in 235 / 40 / 18 for sure!
I am running them on my XR5 and love them. If you get a bargin you could pay $180 a corner, but price will normally be around $210 fitted. Also regarding size, the number you changed is profile, if you want great grip you want wider which is the first number. If you are running 225 now, you can comfortably fit a 235 kumho tyre. More grip (slightly) and the bonus of being cheaper as 235 is a common size (commodore etc)

Called up a couple local shops here round Melbourne, they all wanted over $325. Got quoted $170 a tyre at tempetyres.com.au You were spot on the money, comes to $210 a tyre, inc. shipping 'n fitting/balancing. Definitely getting these now. ![]() |

i wouldnt go to 45, especially if you intend to lower, i have 235/40R18 kumhos, and on super lows, now considering lifting it up a bit bcoz of the minimal room in there...

Try Marangoni Mythos tyres, I had them originally in 225/40/18 after reading good reviews on this site.

T1R would be my call. I have them on the wife's Accord (SiR with 147 kW) and they stick like glue wet or dry.

I know you can fit 235's on the xr5, but im guessing they got different suspension to the base model. |

I have currently fitted Kenda Kaisers 235/45/17 for $130 each. The 235 i think fit ok on my standard Focus LS, i can put my fingers between the strut and tyre wall.

guys and girls, the Hancook Evo V12s are also great value and are great on the road. My dad is running them on his Mondeo XR5 and they are fantastic. They also seem to be wearing better than the standard Continental Sports Contact 2 that were on it.
