Hi All,
Took my rear axle assembly out for a good clean. Now its time to put it back in. Both my manuals (Ford and Gregorys) say to tighten U bolt nuts and drive pinion flange bolts to specified torque yet I can't seem to find what those specified torques are. Any ideas?? |

Disregard the torque setting in the manuals if your u-bolt look a bit dodgy. I sold a guy all my spare u-bolts and he snapped all 3 sets because he insisted on achieving the torque setting in the manual....You'd think you'd learn after breaking the second set. : Obviously after 30 years the original u-bolts aren't up to it, so just tighten them to a reasonable level. I've replaced diffs contless times and I've never had one come loose and my old RS used to give them a good old pounding.
