Default RPM Cutout Limit ?

Hey all , I was just wondering what the rpm cutout/gear change limit is supposed to be for a stock AUII XR6 VCT ? ... just before redline ? .. on redline ? .. or just after redline ? ( giving it a gutfull in an Auto , at what rpm should the auto change gears ) ?

It should change at exactly 5500rpm at WOT. Cut out is at 5750.

(Unless you have an edit : )

Hmmm , then that makes me wonder if my car has had an edit or something before i bought it , or if i have a serious problem with the rev limit cutout range / or gearshift timing on my auto . I haven't really looked into my car seriouslly enough yet to find out what has allready been done ? ( haven't had it dyno'd yet etc etc ) . Reason i asked the question is because i have noticed since i bought the car that it seemed to go better than any other vct or hp i drove , and on various occasions if i give it full throttle and hold it hard it revs past redline , close to the 6250 rpm range ! , without strugling and pulling hard all the way , chirps into 2nd and 3rd . It has almost had me worried at times because i have been worried i will damage the engine , and have had to back it off to get it to change gears ! . Time to get it on the dyno i think and sort it out .

I wouldn't take to much notice of the tacho in the AUs Ive had mine whole cluster callibrated & the guy said the tacho in the AU range are all out of kilter. Hes done dozens.
In fact every gauge was out on my cluster. He has got them all spot on execpt for the tacho, he said theres nothing he can do to get it any closer...

I have found the same. When I datalog the "Clean Tacho Output" pin from the EEC, it tells me my redline is 5500rpm when the dash tacho is indicating closer to 5800rpm.

Don't get me started on the waste of space the other gauges are.....lol

I've revved the car to cutout before, and it hit the rev limit and bounced twice before the needle stoped going up... like the needle was a bit slow....

Unless you need 99% acuracy with your tacho, you should be fine... If you do need 99%... get a computer setup cause it sounds like ur doing serious racing.... lol.

If it was REALLY doing 6250rpm I think you'd know it.. valve bounce like a dog.
I'd say your tacho is reading stupid like Steve said above.

Dont worry about a dyno, take it to the track.

Yeah i agree there , it must be just the tacho out of whack. Gets close to valve bouncing , start of pinging if right on the edge around the so called 6250 reading .

Take it to G&D, ask them to test the rpm's on the dyno, you'll find your answer out soon enough. Either that or come to the Dyno day on June 17th

The tachos are just toys in the AU not a guage at all.

The AU six cut out is about 5800-5900rpm as far as I can measure on my dwell tach which isn't easy to measure on your own!

gee , i didn't realize how much of a problem the tacho's being out of whack on the AU's was until seeing the responses , if you can get a correct reading out of the eec pinout for the tacho , then it makes me wonder how cheap sh|te the tacho's are in the AU's :( , sorta defies the point of having the nice lookin XR cluster with the tacho .

my car hits revlimit about 2-3 lines into the red, which is about 5900ish.. but on the odd occasion it will spin over to about 6100rpm..
and its un edited, id say the gauge is out a little..
