Hey guys,
I just recently lowered my car and it now drones at 60-70km/h. The drone is pretty loud but will go away above 75km/h and is hard to pinpoint as its throughout the car. Any ideas on what could cause this? Thanks. |

The stereo not being loud enough??? Ha ha ha ha
actually no idea to be honest. This could be farfetched but do you have dump tips on your exhaust? Cause lowering the car would bring the tips closest to the ground which could change the ssound characterstics of the exhaust As the sound would be bouncing off the road surface quicker blah blah blah causing the drone. I highly doubt that's the case but.

perhaps when the engine is labouring its twisting in the mounts and the exhaust is touching some part of the suspension/diff that has had its position altered.

I would say it has to do with slap back off the ground. Is it a wagon or a sedan?

Do you have a larger than standard exhaust? because as mentioned already, bringing it closer to the ground will make it worse.
My XR8 goes through a really loud phase in 5th at about 90kph, but then it passes. |

Not the standard AU Diff Whine is it
I know both my AU Falcons had diff whine Maybe now cause it is lower you hear it more !! |

The exhaust is still stock and its definitely not diff whine. It's nice and quiet until it hits 70 and then the drone starts and will continue until the speed either increases or decreases. The exhaust isn't touching the body as this has happened before and it's a more metallic sound. By the way it's a sedan.

how many km on it? it could be a wild possibility that the uni joints are getting tired and because of the changed angle they are causing the drone...?

Does it disappear when turning one way or the other? If so, consider wheel bearing.
