I have a wicked whinening sound coming from my diff at the moment. Mechanic says he can't tell what the problem is till he takes it out for a look and estimates rebuild with labour is between $1300 - $2000 depending on what needs replacing. We're talking about an XR LSD here. Has anyone else here had similar problems or know of a good diff specialist in Sydney?

Good diff specialist in Sydney - Craft Diffs, located in Granville.
Contact numbers are: 9637 1973 9682 7222 Alternately I think Sox would be the one to contact on here.

My IRS lsd had a leak from the extension housing, turns out the retainer was too tight and damaged the seal, when the seal was replaced it was found that the bearing is slightly damaged. So in the future the diff will need rebuilding, i've been quoted $750 for complete stripdown, with all new bearings and seals

There's a place around Melbourne, that are very well known.
They do, rebuilds on your existing diff, using brand new parts/gears, for $750. Another $350 for LSD. Drive in, Drive out.

Krusty ..I really liked the guy who ran it.He was a nice bloke.Took me for a spin in his ute....went ok.Was good to see that the 3.45 ratio change was simply not going to do much for me...so maybe 3.7 in near future.

Just picked up my car from Craft Diffs. Rebuild cost $770. Ok price I think. They turned it around in a day too. Craft told me to be careful to run new diff in which means not going over 80kmh for next 500km's. Bummer eh? Thanks for the lead Dark Horse.
